MEET THE RESCUES
Here at Crazy Croft we rescue a vast majority of animals ranging from: Horses, Goats, Chickens, Sheep, Ducks and Turkeys. We pride ourselves on giving animal’s a second chance in life by taking them in, caring for them and rehoming them.
Here are just a few of our Rescues:
TONTO
Tonto wasn’t really a proper rescue (although some things about where he came from were abit questionable) so much as happy accidental purchase!
He came to us when he was just 2year old, very tiny, xxsmall head collars and 3’6 rugs and now he’s an incredibly chunky 10HH 5year old who is the riot of the yard and causes 95% of the trouble! But despite being an absolute trouble maker, he’s the most trustworthy little guy who never fails to make us smile, he’s taken Eli for his first rides, walking and trotting over poles, first ride out on the roads and first ride away from home. And just last month he started driving in a cart and took to it likes been doing it his whole life.
Obviously a big problem with most shetlands is weight management, a lot of the time we struggle to find someone light enough to propert exercise him which is why we introduced him to driving, this way he gets exercised to help control his weight!
KHAL
Introducing * Crèmè Dè La Crèmè* / Khal.
Khal was rescued by ourself in 2019. He was just 12 weeks old when we found him, his poor mum had been dead on the floor next to him for 2 weeks. Khal was being bullied by the stallion in the same field so when he came he had big bites all over him, a hole in his knee, severely underweight and malnourished.
Once khal had received veterinary treatment we began some tlc.
Almost 4 years later and he’s doing incredible. He’s backed and riding away like an absolute pro, goes on the ring and places every time.
SPARKY AND GUNNER
These two lovely brothers were rescued last summer.
We know the full history of these boys. Both were beautifully bred by a lovely family (who we actually knew before we rescued sparky and Gunner) and then later sold on when they were 3/4 to a family not far from us.
Both ponies were locked in a barn all year round with only 2 days of the month being allowed out into a field. No feed or hay by the looks of it either.

When we went to collect both ponies they were so much worse than we thought. They were just skin and bone, a belly full of worms, gunner still had a lot of his winter coat in the middle of summer, there feet were so badly over grown they had started to splay out and gone flat, both of there teeth were so overgrown that they had cuts all over the inside of there mouths, sparky’s headcollar was imbedded into his head which had to be removed by the vet.

Once they both got the veterinary care they desperately needed we began to try to slowly put the weight back on we worked on some mental scars. Sparky is very head shy and very anxious so big stress head and also had extreme separation anxiety.

Although The separation anxiety is much better, he’s still incredibly stressy, hopefully with a bit more time he will calm down a bit.

Gunner is still very shy, nervous and jump around new people but they are both the sweetest ponies you’ll ever meet with the biggest personalities.
What’s so hard to understand is how the previous owners had let them get in such a bad state as they are such good doers weight wise! (We are actually struggling to get weight off them again!)

Although sparky will never leave us as he has too many issues which can make him difficult to handle, Gunner will be looking to be adopted.
TWIST
This beautiful failed Race Horse was acquired back in early 2023 after we were worried as to where he might end up.

Twist gets his name from his very unique twisted nose. Twist finds it hard to head and to drink, however he manages it really well.
